Need some advice for tuning a Stevens DC-AC Chopper

I try to fix an old µVmeter following the DC supply there is an DC-AC Chopper. Two trim pots on the DC supply are changing the "song" of the chopper, Informations are missing me.
Anybody remembers those choppers ? What's their normal frequency of operation ? the Chopper seems to be a dual one, a trimpot for each half ?
This thing is noisy near the manner of a rat repeller but at lower frequency, is it normal ?

Any advice is welcome. Thanks

PS: the noise is exactly the same with load unconnected.
