Default Where can I find one of these rotary switches?

http://www.surplussales.com/Switches/SWRoMisc-2.html

Check out (SWR) K-35J810

It would appear that adding some SMD reistors and turning it into a really inexpensive rotary attenuator would be easy. Anyone know where to get one?

Excuse me - am I missing something here? You ask where to get those, and post a link to the supplier?

What exactly are you asking, pray tell?

If you bothered to look at the page I linked to:

1. It's a surplus place.

2. They're out of stock.

i have no clue about the one you linked to, it looks nothing like other diy stepped attenuators. where would you stick the resistors? i was thinking something more like this:

Tiny SMD resistors would be used. Just solder then between each of the "fingers" on the control board.

and - what does that mean? You don't buy at surplus places? And - where does it say out of stock?

Do you mean that one? For an attenuator you should use at least a 24 position rotary. Otherwise the steps are too coarse.

AMP is now under Tyco, so if you can wade through the online catalog you may find that switch.

The reason I suggested that switch is that SMD resistors are much lower noise than almost any other type (according to Goldpoint - and they know their stuff), cheap, and, easy to solder. What's not to like?
