Default what is a bleeper?

I found a circuit and it uses a 9-12V bleeper.

what is a bleeper? search for it in the net and even in the mouser catalog and I can't seem to get a definite answer.

thank you.

Hi jarthel,

Something that bleeps... harharhar... .

Cheers

Ok seriously, the best guess would be a something like a "Sonalert". Just apply voltage, the thing beeps. Piezo with an oscillator and a resonating cavity in a package.

I have a feeling it beeps but I would have used the word "beeper" instead of "bleeper".

thanks clem

Isn't the Bleeper circuit used in radio and TV to "bleep" out cuss words on the air. Serious... the radio and TV director have a red button to activate a bleeper circuit to mute the mikes.

Ah... #%$^%$#&! B-E-E-P

decided to solder a led and resistor on the output of the ne555 as a test. I was thinking of that "high/low meter" we used in college experiments since this would do it easily.

anywany, it is working now and probably was working even before. my test methods (using a VOM) was incorrect. thank you

A piezo audio indicator just to add a new name.

Key spec, "built-in oscillator"
