Are there any books/sites available with guides/projects regarding ICs?
The 3 electronics books i already have, only covers them slightly, and don't include any examples. The only chip i ever got working was a 555 timer chip, which made me want to learn more. But from the info i got from my books, i have a hard time figuring out which ICs does what, and basically how to wire them up to do what i want. Id really appreciate any help you may be able to give. And sorry for this slightly audio unrelated post. |

You need to state that which kind of ICs you want to begin with.

It is maybe easier to go from the other direction: Decide what to and then start to investigate which parts you'll need. I'm sure people here can help you in suggesting the right parts.
Check my link collection and the category BOOKS.

Kinda hard for me to say which IC's im interested in. I did look at some of the ic manufactures sites, but rather hard to get any info when you don't know exactly what your looking for.
I was thinking something in the line of easy beginner projects, to get me started. Eg. You push a button which wires up to an IC with 3 or 4 different states, it could be set to turn 3-4 leds on and off. (from what i have read, i think i need a 7400 NAND ic?) Ill try to search a bit more after some books regarding the subject. |

to get an idea of what you d like to do is get a book on
basic electronics which covers a wide spectrum of subjects then once you know little about the subject youre interested in buy a book of that subject i think your problem is you dont quite know what you really want to do ics cover a vast amount of applications possibilities regards |

A not so hard project is a CMOY headphone amp. Buy yourself some Vero board and start soldering. It's very rewarding because you can listen to the result. Power source is 2 pcs. 9 volts batteries. If you want to play with gates and such you can have some for free. I have deep junk drawers. The IC's is called CMOS4xxx, and suitable may be 4001, 4011, 4071, 4081 etc. Personally I'll recommend that you start with a couple of LED's, resistors, transistors, caps and built something "bigger".
