I got 5 of these free on "garbage day" at work. I think they are intended for use with a switching supply.(they were supposed to be used in an industrial touchscreen computer)
I saw them on a website for $45usd...
How suitable are they for audio amps?
Should I just sell them? I have yet to test them.(broken crappy multimeter = new multimeter for christmas!)
Here's a pic (scanned):

Should be quite good assuming you don't need more power. These are typically rated to spiking at 16 times rated current. 3A will give you like 350W or so at 120V. Double at 240V.
You did good. If you can't use it due to power restrictions, put it in a CD player.
Note these do not have ground inductors. No problem if your equipment does not have ground ....

Holy cow, then I guess this filter from Brigar electronics, rated at 13A, should be more than plenty to power my 2KVA transformer
Nothing wrong with overbuilding I guess.
Great info, thanks. I guess I shouldn't be too worried about inrush blowing the EMI filter.
Petter, thanks for the advice.
Once I get my new multimeter, I'll test them. If they are all good, then I might sell a few, as I doubt I'll need five. (I've gotta scrounge up that tuition money before the end of January) If anyone is interested, look out for a post in a couple weeks...
