Default 2sc5198 replace with MJW 3281A?

anyone familiar with these two devices? and could the mjw3281 be used as a replacement. the mjw3281 is rated 15 amp but, the 2sc5198 is a 10 amp device. thanks!

Several important parameters: Check the Hfe (also known as the current gain), and the F(t) or frequency of transition. The repalcement units you choose should have the same, or nearly the same Hfe as the originals. It also helps to have sufficient voltage and current ratings, which you have covered.

If I recall, the F(t) of the MJW3281/1302 is 30MHz! That is FAST!

The MJW/MJL 1302 & 3281 are some of the best output units available today. Check the ONSemi website and have them sample you some. I think the limitr is something like 25 units at a time. So get 25 NPNs & 25 PNPs.

MJW = TO-247AC case, and MJL = TO-264 case.

Cheers,

Steve

hi, and thanks for the response! the f (t) is the same on the both of them and as far as the hfe, the minimums are real close and the maximums are higher at higher amperages on the mjw3281as'. i already have some on hand as well as the mjw1302as' so i might just give them a try and see how they perform. thanks again!
