I have the non-profit DAC TDA1541A kit which needs a 15v-0-15v trans (which is around 21v DC)
i'm wondering if i can bypass the use of transformer to use SLA battery instead... initally i plan to use 12v + 6v... but then the shop owner said it's not good to use different one... not sure why... how about 6v+6v+6v = 18v ? my questions 1) can i bypass the bridge rectifier by using 2 rails of 0-18v battery straight wire to the cap 2) 12v+ 6v (cheaper) or 6v+6v+6v (more expensive). Which one better ? 3) this DAC take less than 2A... wat criteria should i be looking on the SLA batteries ? i saw a 'AH'.. wat is that ? |

U can use 12+6 (batteries cheap) if both have same AH ie Ampere hour capacity..Different AH will result in lower AH battery getting depleted before higher AH batt.
Better to use 7AH or above ..so @2amps will give around 3.0hours backup. yes u can bypass the bridge and transformers..but what abt the charging of batteries ?

I have used batterys to power a 5 watt Son of Zen with realy good results. Using 12v +- @ 2A it was super easy to use a pair of 12v batterys. But it`s a real bummer to be enjoying the music and have the batterys go dead so I realy don`t recomend it.
