Default Wall wart charger as supply

Instead of using an actual DC wall wart as a power supply, can I use a wall wart battery charger to power a circuit directly?

I don't need much current, only enough to power a logic portion of a circuit (less than .5 amps needed). It seems that I can find lots of adequate battery chargers on eBay (like chargers that are intended for laptops, ipods, and battery packs).
