Stepped attenuator

Hi All,

Maybe this is just nothing, but trying to build a stepped attenuator using resistors I tried a technique employed in the UK to attenuate audio leads.

Connecting resistors to signal and ground through the 6-way switch I have, there's no resistors directly in the path. I understand the quality of resistors employed in this way should be very high-I just used some standard 1% 0.6w jobs I had. All values I built in were too high apart from 4.7 ohm. I think it could be built as a 6 way switch with values from 2-10 ohm and cover all I need.

Any thoughts?
