Wow, I thought that a superconducting transformer that does direct DC-to-DC conversion would get at least some comments here...

It's very nice, but doesn't look very practical. High temp superconductors still require liquid N, and the materials are much too expensive. Power lines are AC around here...

I recently DL'd a USAF research paper on the physics of teleportation. Now THAT's interesting!
