Default Question about switches and voltage/amps

How do I turn off say... a 120v 8amp motor with a magnetic switch say a reed switch.

How do I limit the voltage to the to the motor so that it will move slowly.

Anything would help.

Default motor control on/off

... us the reed switch to control a healthy motor control relay. (a common practice)
