There are some oscilloscope software that turns a PC (with sound card) into a scope. But I am wondering how it measures the ripple of a HT PSU that can be up to +/-200V. Can it be fed into the sound card?!? Even a 12V filament PS is questionable. Anybody can share their experience with such software?

The oscilloscope programs which do not use external hardware are using your PC sound card for input.
The input voltage range on the input is very limited (<1v usually, I believe) and would need to be attenuated with an external circuit. Also they usually only get up to 20k bandwidth. |

You can divide the +-200V voltage with , lets say , 100K : 250 Ohms resistor divider(400 : 1).
However , the sound card scope is not good. It has a limited frequency response. It won't show DC. Square and triangle wave is not shown correclty as well. Regards, Lukas. |

That is a pretty cool little piece of software. How much does it cost?

Click on my name and you'll be taken to my profile page. From there you can email me. Be sure to include your email adress so I can send to you. I would have posted it but it's too large for the forum.

Rob,
Couldn't success. Got this message "Sorry! That user has specified that they do not wish to receive emails through this board. If you still wish to send an email to this user, please contact the administrator and they may be able to help." Tried with my own name, still the same. Any idea? |

Hi Senderj
Funnily enough, I get the same message about you. Is there a problem with the system? Try rpappsATtpgDOTcomDOTau. Cheers Rob |

Hi,
you have all got your Email switched off. The Email logo appears at the bottom of any message you post when Email is switched on. BTW it's working I just checked mine. It arrived in under 30seconds.
