Hi,
I have a transformer that was pulled from working vintage Pioneer receiver (model SX-650). Unfortunately I have no idea what are its specs. If anybody has any idea, without asking me to mess with the wires and electricity, on the specs, please let me know. Trafo has the following numbers on it: UT-1 ATT-303 0-BE11-XAU Thanks, Alex |

Hi,
before you hook it up, connect each wire into a terminal block so you have no accidents. Try to find the mains windings, nearest the middle usually. If two then assume 110V each. If one, then arrange for 110V input until you KNOW for certain what it was built for (110V or 20V).

I guess I can measure the output on the transformer. I am complete noob so I figured, I will ask the question here before trying to mess with electricity.
I have four wires on one side which I think are the mains. They are brown, white and two blue wires. I will try to connect the transformer and test the output. Thanks. |

Hi,
could the wires be blue and grey/violet? Wire a mains light bulb in series with the primary of the transformer. Just in case it is faulty or that you connect the two primary tappings out of phase. When the primaries are connected out of phase, the transformer only has the primary resistance against the mains voltage and will draw many kilowatts before burning out due to very rapid overheating.
