There is a world of DSP types, manufacurers and families out there. Does any of them show remarkable performance when it comes to room correction, digital filters, surround and so on?
Can most software templates be used with most DSPs?
How many audio channels can a good DSP handle simultaneously in real time when it comes to advanced room correction?

a modern pc is way fast enough for a reasonable # of channels (certainly if you can ditch windows)
even if you want to go dedicated DSP processor it would be silly not to prototype on a pc and then determine MACs and MIPs actually used to select a DSP chip
