Hello,
I had bought the captioned old DVD player recently as my CD transporter. It is sound great compare to my Denon CD player. However, it is a 110V machine which is not comply to my country voltage 220V, therefore a power transformer is using for voltage transformation. I like to advise someone who have the experience to modify the voltage from 110V to 220V? I had read a post from China, it mentioned 220V can be direct feed to the machine if carried out the replacement of the origanal 330uF 200V capacitor to 100uf 400V inside the power supply of the player. Is it work? As I know, the audio PCB is powered by another separate C-core transformer. Would it withstand the doubled voltage of 220V? Do any body get the schematic diagram of this player? Sorry for my bad English writing skill and thank you all of you. |

As is common in many of the Sony units, the switch-mode PSU is bought in, and Sony don't provide a circuit for it - although it 'may' be possible to modify it for 220V operation. But you would also need to change the C core transformer, applying 220V to a 110V transformer will blow it in seconds, and could potentially destroy components on the secondary as well.
I would suggest it's easier to continue using a 220/110V transformer to feed it?.
