Default If buying an SPL meter

(They're cheap from HK via eBay) a lower priced unit (for broadly similar prices, with analogue of course cheaper) which is preferable - analogue or digital ?

Thanks

I picked up a Radio Shack 33-2050 analogue SPL meter for pretty cheap on eBay. It comes in handy for adjusting levels in a 5.1 setup.

It is also good for doing some quick speaker measurments with a test CD.

Since it has a preamp built in, you can also do more fancy measurments with a computer.

You can find a correction table and links to a test CD and measuring software from my
webpage

Cheers,
Gio.

Hi GG

Yes I now think analogue Radio Shack with correction table available is the way to go.

Can you elaborate a little on the built in preamp, eg how much, what benefit is the preamp?

Thanks
