Default Looking for particular DC connector (pics inside)

Hi all--

Anybody out there know where I can find plug/receptacle combinations that look like the attachment.

I found this pic at a site selling chargers and accessories for electric wheelchairs and scooters. but they want $6.50 each (that is to say, $6.50 for the plug and $6.50 for the socket).

That seems a little steep to me. But the only stuff I saw in Digikey and Mouser catalogs was mil-spec stuff that was even more expensive?

Anybody know what name to call these by & where I might find them for a reasonable price?

Thanks--

Greg

Hi,

They are called Locking Multi-Pole line sockets / plugs.

Available from Maplins in the UK, but not much use to you.

Here are a few different versions of the plugs your looking for:

I'm not sure if these are suitable for relatively high current dc since they're specified as mic connectors, but I'll look some more later. Though, for the money, I'm sure there are better options out there. I would shop around a bit (the aforementioned site only has about a million other connectors).

I actually run an arc-lamp off of a similar 3-prong microphone cable, and we run a fair bit of current through that connector with no trouble (2-3 amps at least). When I asked about it's rating, our electronics shop guys said that a good rule of thumb for that connector was if I was willing to use a standard lamp cord for power, I could use that plug. I am not sure what the rating is on your system, but we haven't ever had a problem.

Hope this helps.
