Hi all--
I'm getting down to planning the aesthetic parts of my project, so I'm looking for some suggestions for sources of cool looking knobs, switches & feet for my case. I'm not a big fan of brass, so stuff thats aluminum, stainless or nickel-plated would be a big plus. I've read some of the DIY stuff using acrylic rod & fiber optics, but I'd really prefer pre-made solutions. Thanks-- Greg |

It really depends on your taste of course, but there's some good stuff available from industrial suppliers (I particularly like the stainless vandalproof switches, as fitted to elevators, etc.)
Alternatively, browse a hardware store - a lot of cabinet knobs etc. can be adapted. |

Greg,
Browse around on greEdBay for a lot of knobs, chassis parts and such. I have found some really nice knobs for projects under musical instruments (guitar parts and accessories). Also, take a look at the many DIY vendors such as DIYCable.com. ebay link: http://instruments.listings.ebay.com/Parts-Accessories_Knobs-Jacks-Switches_W0QQfromZR4QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQsacatZ47076Q QsocmdZListingItemList If you are pretty craft and fancy building your own chassis, you can use Front Panel Express for the finishing touches. I have used them for several panels on different projects. Good luck and have fun, Wayne

Herm:
Thanks for that list. I knew about some of those places, but not others. Problem is, it seems like most of what is out there are plain boring black phenolic knobs & ordinary switches. dnsey: I looked up some of those vandal-proof switches...*that's* the kind of stuff I'm looking for. If only you could get them black anodized... wboyd: I didn't even think about looking at auctions... I'm still collecting any other suggestions!! --Greg |

Here is the search string I use for EBAY.
And this is the EBAY vendor I use for music-instrument stomp box accessories. Enjoy.

www.vt4c.com has a decent supply of aluminum knobs at excellent prices; nothing terribly fancy, but quite practical.
