Default Sony SCD77ES Parts

Does anyone know if it is possible to order sled and spindle motors and laser assemblies on the web for Sony parts either in the US for delivery abroad?

I know they stock these in the US but it is difficult to get hold of them in Europe.

I'm at home at the moment, so can't check, but all spares for Europe are held in Belgium. If that model was ever sold in Europe, then they should have spares - assuming they aren't common spares anyway?.

If I get time I'll check at work tomorrow.

It's in stock at Belgium, you should be able to order it through any local Sony service agent - expect to pay around £71.44 inc VAT for the chip though!.

I can't find this model listed?, but an SCD777ES (same as an SCD1) is, did you miss a 7 out?.

The spin and sled motors are in stock, the laser is out of stock, but given an expected delivery date of early April - although the expected dates never seem very accurate!.

Sled motor X49521471 £139.97
Spin motor 176325411 £278.11
Laser A6062396A £67.33

I might point out that these prices seem rather extortionate!.

Hope this helps?.

Many thanks; yes its the SCD777ES. Can you pl give me a tel no as I am physically in Cyprus. My experiece with Sony Centres has been that they are not knowledgeable on spares.

What about the Rom chip; can you find this?

Yes, the prices for Sony spares has been very high. In the US, they are more reasonable direct.

Fred

I can't help you with any phone numbers, all ordering is done via the Internet, but Sony will only supply their service agents with spares.

You don't need to talk to a Sony Centre, they are just sales outlets, you want a Sony SERVICE Centre - most of these are nothing to do with Sony, but are independent service companies.

A quick google finds http://www.sonycyprus.com/ who presumably can put you in touch with a service agent, if they aren't one themselves?.

I managed to my surprise to get these in Cyprus from the Sony agent in a week. Sled Motor GBP 115! Rom Chip GBP60! I takes 8 weeks in Britain and costs GBP210 or so. Some is making a big profit on top of regular margins.

The sled motor is made in China and is a flimsy thing inworthy of the SCD1/777ES

Sony Assist (the DVD based manual and parts system) includes price 'codes', which would allow you to look up the price of any spares. However, Sony UK don't provide a price list for these codes, and you have to check live via the Internet for prices.

I suspect the lack of the price code list is to allow Sony UK to charge more for the parts than would otherwise be the case!.
