Default Modifying a potentiometer's value

Hi guys,
I've purchased a bunch of 50k slider-pot and would like to change the value of those pots without altering them physicaly.

I would like to change them from 0k-50k to 0k to 20k. Is it doable. I'm an absolute novice at all of this.

thanks for your help...

In the majority of audio applications, it won't make any significant difference whether you use 50k or 20k.
What do you want to use them for?
