Default power supply for phono stage

Is it poss, and will it be an upgrade to run my 18v dc gram amp phono stage off 3 6v SLAs? I am currently runnin a wall wart. batts would be convenient too as it would free up a plug socket i need. thanks for reading my post. if yes what AH would be best?
