fake OSCON's???

Hello guys,

I've purchased some OSCON's on ebay. Unfortunately they are not from SANYO but they have the "Nippon Chemicon" symbol brand printed on. I consider them to be fake, anyone knows this better?

Nippon Chemicon has discontinued manufacturing these type of capacitors. Try finding datasheets from www.mouser.com

Nippon Chemicon makes some reputable electrolytics, highly regarded in Japanese industrial circles and audio industry. Look for the datasheets to compare with Sanyo's OSCON products to see if they are inferior or superior. Sanyo specs their OSCON products reliably with regard to ESR and leakage, which helps when designing.

I know I know, Chemicon is similar to Rubycon, ELNA, etc... But I didn't know that there were more companies havin the OS-CON line of cap's. Have they produced them under licence os Sanyo?

Yes, Sanyo licensed the OS-CON technology out to a number of producers a long time ago. Most recently, to Rubycon, I believe. In addition, Sanyo is a very large producer for OEM, and their components are heavily remarketed in the high-end audio industry: CEC, Audiomeca, 47 Labs, the list goes on.

They seem to be fine, 'have put them on my EMU0404 and it works good. Have to do some measurements to see more...
