If Kiwame is rated the best sounding resistors by some people, does that mean only as emitter resistors, or amp-wide? I noticed that they only go as low as 2.2 Ohm at the suppliers sites that I saw them available. I sthat a good value for an emitter resistor?

Emitter resistors are usually <1 ohm for outputs.

Hi hawkfeather,
Testlab is right about the values. Some Stassis amps use 1 ohm, and that's high for the average amp.. The most common values range 0.22, 0.33 and 0.47 ohms. The odd amplifier may use 0.1 ohm or nothing (gasp ). Using a low inductance part is very important. Too low a value and you may have trouble with current sharing or bias instability (read boom).-Chris |
