I am adding an optical input to a old DIY DAC, and I have been unable to locate small quantities of a screw mounted Toslink reciever such as the TORX176 or GP1F32R or curent equivalent in the US.
Does anyone anyone know where I might buy one or two? |

Better to add a coaxial output to your source, Toslink is a musical disaster.

.... to some but I think it's alright especially to an old CD player.
Have you made a Google search? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...76+distributor

The source is a computer motherboard. I don't feel like hacking it up.
By using the Optical, I can have two inputs to the DAC. Of course I can only use one at a time. I have searched every possible combination of keywords for the query. I can find distributers that can sell me 5,000 units, or I can find some small shops in Europe and Asia that can sell me a few. Neither is a viable option. |

i always love a challenge.
2 minutes in google got it... i searched for "toslink receiver" and found a link where a dude modified something to add a toslink jack. he gave a bill of materials, one of the items was a TORX179 from digikey. they dont stock it, but they call it a "RECEIVER MODULE FIBER OPTIC". search for that and you get a few things. mainly, the TORX177(F,T) and TORX147(F,T). they stock those. see if that works. |

Thanks,
Good find! All I need to do is figure out what to spend the other $23.70 on. |
