I have had this big 5-pin IC laying around for quite a while and I want to know what it is, and if I can use it for something interesting. Google tells me it may or may not be a 5 or 18 or 20 pin voltage regulator selling for $3.99 to $12... but no datasheets to be found.
Any help?

There are so many of these types of chips that you never seem to see two the same!, but many that look like that are switchmode PSU's used in TV's and similar. I've also seen similar size and shaped chips as DC multi-voltage regulators as well. The Sanken site doesn't list that number, so presumably it's not current?.
It's probably not very interesting, only useful as a spare part for whatever uses it.

Interest is in the interest of the beholder
I agree however, and I was just wondering.
