Question Organize resistors

Hi,

How do you guys (and girls) organize your resistors? I have mine in plastic envelopes (one for each value) and stuffed in a box, which makes it not very practical when I'm searching for a value. Have to dig around for a while before I find the correct value. Any good suggestions out there?

Thanks
Petter

Empty film roll boxes.

Whenever i need a new batch i ask at the magazine/tabacco store, usually they hand me a plastik bag with 20 or more.

Thats a good suggestion, but I guess all those boxes take up some space don't they? Are there any book-like systems (don't know what you would call it i english..) that could be used for this purpose?

Find or make a small box/drawer ( arkivboks??) that fits the width of the bags you are using ( all same size ?),and sort the bags on increasing value.. maybe with a cardboard partition for each decade....something like this used to be for sale, but I haven't seen it in years......
or buy a Raaco or similar cabinet of suitable size...

Another good idea.
Any other suggestions? Propably most of the readers of this forum has a large batch of resistors at home. How do you organize them? Show and tell!

Raaco cabinets/drawers is the way to go. Be sure to get the ones with soft polypropylene drawers that do not break

Ya, I got one of those cabinets with like 50 drawers from sears. It works ok, but I still have to split them up into ranges (like 50-100, 1K-3K etc). Audio amps sometimes don't like to use standard values and making a seperate drawer for 47.7K just didn't seem worthwhile

Yes, you'll have to use ranges, but it's an easier task to search for 47.7k in the 50-100k drawer than in a total mess like I have it now. The Raaco I'm looking at has 60 drawers which can be split in 4 compartments, and that's alot of resistor values

I gave up on that I simply put them in Zip bags and store them in a plastic case. Any Raaco will prove too small, after a while
