Does anyone know what these resistors are ? Carbon, metal film, ... Are they usable for audio ?
![]() The ones in the both left packs are labeled "MFB0.1%", the actual value and "918T6a" resp. "919T6a" (where the "a" looks like the greek letter "alpha"). The smaller one to the right are labeled "TKD", "RN60M"; the actual values are written e.g. "100KD" resp. "800KF", 1.33MG" and so on. The whole thing is kinda decadal attentuator salvaged off a Hewlett Packard signal generator bulit in 1969. First thought was to use it as a volume pot. ![]() Thanks for looking ! |

Hey Smell,
I don't know about the resistors, but I think I know your brother, "SmellofPoop." Best, KT |

well Smell, with a name like that, I gotta help.
A little search goes a long way, just use GooglePoo. Here is what I found. TKD mades very good pot, it is very likely those Japanese metal film are of very high quality. www.tkd-corp.com/02_products/pdf/p08_RN.pdf |

Hi SmellOfPoo,
It is a 600 ohm switched volume control. To buy one would be very expensive. I'd keep it as is and use it for an output atenuatter for a signal generator. What was wrong with the HP? They are still worth money and work well. -Chris |

I salvaged it out of the electronic waste bin on local junkyard. Someone has cannibalized it before, the attentuator was the last remain.

That's sad.
What you have is worth keeping. It would be very useful in a project. Extremely high quality assembly. -Chris |
