I have a cap I purchached in the late '80's
it has these markings
SCR PC2500
25uF +-10%
250V (what looks like a sinewave) 85'C
7.85
I'm wondering if its volts (250V) are AC as I suspect
and what would be its rating max. be in a DC voltage.
Would like to use it for power supple filtering.
Can't seem to find any info on the net.

In a nutshell:
25uF is the capacitance.
+-10% is the tolerance of the capacity.
250V with the sinewave ~ should be the AC voltage rating.
It's a bit odd as normally, one would expect a DC voltage sign.
85°C: meaning it is tested for a certain lifetime a 85°C, i.e. 2000 hours. Roughly, when temperature drops with x°C the lifetime will double. Other will have to fill in the 'x'.
7.85: no idea.
Depending on what power supply you want to filter, 25uF is not a lot for say something like pass amps. There, you would think of something between 20000 and 200000uF.

Would be using it as a bypass in an HarmonKardon Citation V.
for the driver stage which was changed to a cascoded diffamp
w/ccs running at 400 volts at the plate load. Need to know if
this cap is rated for 400v at least. The Solen site only lists PA
and PB nolonger the PC!? series of caps. I'll be dropping a
line to their sales dept which I would have done to start with
if I knew it was a Solen, which I think manufactued the SRC.
