Hi there,

I wonder where the best place would be to buy components in Belgium. Not much (well none actually) shops that I know of carry stuff like OPA627 or IRFP240.
RS Belgium told me they only deal with companies.

Any of you guys know shops in my neighbourhood ? Internet ordering is also okay if they deliver to Belgium. How is payment done then ?

All suggestions welcome,

Thanks,

Gert

I used spoerle electronics (they have office in zaventem), very fast, only first purchase have to be >200 euro.
So ordered a bunch of irfp240,140, 9240,610,9610 and 044.
Received them next day, all in rail, same serie.

Still collecting stuff before starting to build.

After matching I might be able to help you with the mosfets.

Do you know any surplus or cheap heat-sink and toroid-trafo sources?

Greetings from Vilvoorde.

Hi fellow Belgians,

Local shops are indeed a misery. In Gent, there is Gentronics (which has very little in stock and orders from the "onderdelenspecialist") and Radiohome. Radiohome has a much larger selection of components, but I found the boss so rude I have made a solemn oath never to go in there anymore.

I'm afraid it's even worse for speaker components in Belgium :(

I have never ordered from Farnell for private things, but they should be OK: www.farnell.com

I just took a quick look at Farnell's site. Not very simple to extract the right components from their catalogue.

The search string "IRFP044" gave an awfull lot of 'pink noise' in the listing I got on my screen. How do you guys find the right IRFP044 in this list ?

Has anyone experience with their pay policy ?

Components etc

Zeno,

I know, their website sucks.
I have the hardcopy catalog, 2 volumes about 15cm total. Very easy to use, I never bother with the site.

They always send a 30-month payment bill. But, I buy through a company, so possibly if you cannot provide them a VAT number, you may need to pay on delivery.

Note that Farnell BE is just a phone number, you always end up in NL where their warm bodies are. The invoices list a BE bankaccount, though.

I have 50 irfp 044, 9240, 610, 9610 and 75 irfp240

and yes, very friendly and helpful lady on the phone in Zaventem also.

If somebody here in belgium is making or has surplus of aleph pcb's (briangt kind of stuff or kristjan) we can perhaps agree a trade (zenv4 also ok).

It seems that RS and Farnell have varying policies from
country to country regarding sales to private persons.
As I understand from this thread, the situation in Belgium is
that you can buy from Farnell but not from RS. In a similar thread
recently when I asked about the situation in Sweden it turned
out to be the other way around there (haven't tried myself
yet, though). UrSv reported in this thread that he can buy from
Farnell in Switzerland. It is somewhat puzzling that their
policies seem to vary almost randomly between conutries.

Try Speakerland in Oss, Netherlands. I've met many a Flaming there, it's no so far from the border. They have postorder as well.
website: http://www.speakerland.nl

Display will be stopping selling to consumers directly, so I advise you stock up on what you need before the local retailers close. Some will have quite a nice closing sale, this is how I got my Weller WS50...

Or http://www.diyparadiso.com they are located in Antwerp :) The cheapest source for scanspeak. They speak Dutch, French English and German :)

e.g. the new ringradiator for €299,- instead of €500 at speakerland and speakerenco.
