2SJ79, 2SK216 substitutes

If you can get these, you'll not need to substitute....

Substituting a lateral MOS-FET (the types you mentioned are laterals) with a vertical is not that simple in many cases, and it's not a drop in.
The vertical IRF's need higher gate-source voltage to turn on, and they have substancially higher Cgd.
And I believe Charles Hansen would point out that the laterals do sound better...

Also, if I recall correctly, the pinout is different...:bawling:

What do you need to build or repair? A schematic would be useful to help.
If you do not need the high dissipation and voltage rating of the 2S.... types, you could try to use e.g. the small ZVN3310 / ZVP3310 from Zetex. They have comparable Cgd and transconductance, and gate threshold voltage is also lower than the IRF's.

thanks for replyes.... i can't find them in local stores in my country (RS, Burklin, Digikey also don't have them).... Farnell has them but I have a minimum order of 50Euro's.... so it is a problem - if I can find them somwhere I would by them on reasonable terms..... suggestions....?

sch is like in post 14 or 16 of this thread - something like this with right parts...... (sch's are not completely checked - especially sch in post 14)

borbely has also minimum order of 50 euro.... will see about selectronic....thnx

Will see there also - I need 4 pieces of 2sj79 and 4 pieces of 2sk216.... i have contacted the guy from www.bdent.com - they say that they have them and that i can pay via VIsa.... will see the other links that all of You kindly supplied and after that I will decide where to buy (Supplier must have Visa payment method and also have the parts I need j79 and k216 :D)

edit: i just saw that on heho site they have written "Lieferung nur innerhalb Deutschlands." - to bad.......

Hi all,

I was looking for such thread, replacement of 2sk216 & 2sj79 with other transistors. I have denon poa-2800 which I didn't complete still many months from now, and I found out there are drivers 2sk215 & 2sj78, which is very difficult to find them here.

What do you think, can irf610 and irf9610 or irf540 and irf9540 can replace them at least just to try it if it works?? In case I don't have schema for this amp, I found out that, drivers 2sa1306 and 2sc3298 are connected with mosfets drivers.
Any help is appreciated.
