I want to build an old fashioned looking CD player. Make it out of wood and such.
I was wondering if anybody could help me find a cd player without a case, or a customizable one. Maybe one that can easily be taken out of the original case and still work. Thanks |

Do a search on DIY CD player (it's on the digital forum, if i recall correctly).
You could always have a standard CDP and, for instance, glue corkwood sheet to its case, or thin pine/balsa. Just my €0,02

Thanks for the reply, i will search there.
I didnt want to take the cheap way out and just stick fake wood on it. I want to actually build it out of cherry wood or such |

Most consumer CD players can be removed from their cases without much trouble.
You might need to think about suitable switch actuators, as these are often part of the overall design, and should certainly consider safety issues (tracking of mains voltage through timber, fire risk etc.). Not a very difficult project though, and quite rewarding when it's finished I should think. |
