Default PCB insulating lacquer?

Hi,

What does one use for insulating the copper traces on the pcb? Can one use ordinary varnish?

TIA

I use Electrolube DCA SCC3 Conformal coating, art no. DCA200H, pretty good.

thanks. I was looking for a "diy" alternative w/o having to order online but if it's not possible then i'll have to order electrolube or equivalent.

i have always used clear plastic varnish with excellent results, you can not tell that is is varnished at all unless you smell it!
