Default RCA socket without having to solder?

Hi,

I came across this lately, a RCA socket in which the cable (or component) is connected to the socket by just a screw. So no solder is needed. Unfortunatly, that item is not sold anymore, out of production.

Does anyone happen to know another brands that uses this non-solder-filosofy? And what kind of plugs do you use? Having to solder is not a problem if that specifik plug sounds even better, of course.. It's for my 1543 DAC btw..

Um, seems to me a mechanical contact will go loose? Solder tends to be a bit more reliable.

True, but I don't see a real problem, unless I'm gonna use is as football or whatever. It won't just decouple, will it?

Sure it could, depends how much corrosion is in the air.

Or especially movement.. I made the mistake of putting my preamp in a drawer, now the cables are going intermittent.
