Hi everyone, i am very new to audio, but i was hoping for some advice.
i picked up a used Arcam Alpha 7 Integrated amp that is not working entirely well. The unit powers up and the preamp component works when i hook it up to an external power amp. However, the unit's amp section does not appear to be working at all. the unit has 2 sets of speaker outputs and a headphone jack, none of which are working. i opened it up and one of the fuses was blown. it uses a small 2.5A/250V fuse, so i replaced that with a 2A/250V fuse. as soon as i turned on the power, the fuse blew. i thought maybe i didn't have it fit properly, so i carefully inserted another one and had the same result. any suggestions on what may be the problem? is it simply the fuse or likely something else? since i'm here, are there any simple tweaks that would improve this amp since i've got the unit open? thanks in advance. |

sounds like a shorted output component or, maybe power supply
