Angry import duty on free samples

Has anyone else experienced this prob in the UK . Seems like rip off britain strike's at every opportunity, and they wonder why so many ideas are brought into production outside the uk .
What 's puzzling me is how on earth can this fantastic, sorry that should read abissmal goverment , slap duty on something that's been supplied Free ?

The supplier of the free samples should either mark their value very low, or pay any taxes required..


Might want to call the shipping company and explain to them or show them your receipt if you got one..

There's a tick-box on the customs declaration marked 'Commercial Sample', which, as far as I'm aware, exempts the item from duty.

When I ship, I mark the commerical sample icon and
also put as a Value ( NDV) No declared value.
I suspect they marked on the customs form a value
and THAT's why you were charged.

But I think they have always marked low values and checked Gift/Sample so no taxes are charged.. Maybe if I had ordered hundreds of dollars worth of samples instead


If you find a company that charges for samples, then I assume they would tell you to pay the import taxes as well.

That's a rip off..........I've had loads of foreign replacements for business and private "FOC" written on label...sounds youv'e been ripped off. Which scrouge did you give your cash to ?

Default No duty applied

I got them free , it was an admin error . It seem's one department was chasing the other to quickly..funny how were always chased for money . There no so willing to pay us back though are they .
