Default DVD HACKS (not region codes : ) )

Hi all
I have a farly new dvd player but the other week it died. I check every thing even the fuses and stuff inside! So i took out all the boards and stuff. Is there any thing i could do with the drive or board with all the video and audio conectors? Wire it up to a hard drive or something? (were you can play mpegs and pics on your tv , it has been done!)

Is there anything i can do with it?

Thanks alot
Matthew

If it is just the dvd drive that is dead then it is possible to replace that with a hard drive (depending on the model, and if it uses the right interace)..

but you would need a cd to flash the bios on, for a hard drive to function...

So I dont know if you can do much, unless it is some other problem (psu, etc.)
