Hello,
Building my own S&B TVC volume control. Was looking at Tom1356's Maple fittings for his pre-amp from the S&B Build thread & reading Morgan Jones Build a Valve Amp... saw the Trampoline suspension. Would it be beneficial, neutral, or detrimental to suspend the TVC's in a lattice of elastic? (All 3 axis to prevent them from falling out during moving) And, where can I get some Knicker Elastic? What the heck is it? Is there a substitute? (Google was very informative of many things you can do with it, but not where to buy some) Another alternative would be use some Dyneema line that I have, more than strong enough, just non-elastic. Thx |

Bwahahaha... the jokes begin
Seriously though, Morgan Jones seems pretty specific here, I assumed it was for some part of undergarmets, but "Knicker" seems very... European, wondering if us North Americans call it something different I'm assuming it's designed to be close to the body (so 37șC & some humidity) probably means it would survive being inside an amplifier. Also, I wonder if this Knicker elastic has a strong elastic deformation zone, with great resistance moving into the plastic zone (i.e. permanent deformation). I don't want my TVC's to sag .I can just see friends asking me why I'm sad , replying "My TVC's are sagging, my knicker elastic just wasn't strong enough"In this Thread EC8010 talks about suspending speakers using Knicker Elastic. Other suspension 'webbing' or 'line' suggestions are most appriciated. |

I believe the correct term for this stuff is actually "milliner's elastic", so it's for holding hats on. There are various different types, and the stuff that is similar to that used in knickers is about 1mm diameter
