Default a quick rectifier question

Ok, i should know this, but i dont, so i'l just ask.

i'v been scratching my head over how to get negative voltage off a diode bridge. i'v buildt discrete ones before, but i'm using a done made one this time.

is it as simple as grounding the point where i get the positive voltage?
I think it is, but i'm not 100% certain, and i dont have any extra bridges, or anyplace to get more ATM.

regards
marius

It is that simple. It is important to realise that voltage is totally relative. That's why it's called potential difference - it's not absolute. Thus 0V is whatever you call 0V. Call the higher voltage 0V and the lower one is negative. Call the lower one 0V and the higher one is positive.

it'll depend on your transformer...does it have dual secondaries, or a centre tap?

Mr Evil
I had one of my common lightbulb-hovering-over-head thingys again late last night, and saw the diode alignment change when grounding the V+, and figgured it out for myself.

thanks for helping out though!
(and i know about the voltage, just didn't connect it with the problem at hand until after the post had been posted.)

Hi Li_gangyi

I's a dual secondary, not that it matters any more though.

thanks anyways.
