Does anyone know about the transformer based preamp from Jack Elliano/ Electra-Print that's in the current issue of audioXpress?
It uses two $56 step-up transformers and a log taper pot (10k, I believe).
I wonder how this compares to something like the TX-102.
Best,
KT

I displayed in the same room as Jack at THE Show in
Las Vegas and there were alot of people looking at those amps.
You can call Jack at 1 702 396 4909 and I'm sure He'll
give you all the information you would need .....

One thing you need to be aware of is that the thing has an exceedingly low input impedance. With a 1:8 turns ratio and a 10k pot, you're looking at something on the order of just 150 ohms or thereabouts which is going to limit the source components you'll be able to use it with.
Also, cap coupled output stages, which are intended to drive much higher load impedances may need to have the coupling capacitance increased to avoid unacceptable low frequency rolloff.
