DC pops are no problem. Locate the source of the DC and either service the piece or use a DC blocking cap. Either way, the problem will be solved.
The move-from-speaker-to-speaker thing is not a problem either. Relays will work just fine, or you can handle it in the electronics. For what you are describing, I'd probably say to avoid relays--not because they don't work, but because you'll be switching thousands of times per day. Look at the number of cycles a relay can handle, then run the math. You'll start experiencing reliability problems in a few months and it will be a perpetual maintenance headache from then on. The fade down/up on the volume can be handled either analog or digitally, but will be easier digitally as I believe they have volume chips where that is a built-in function. Grey |

You could do this with a 60 stage CMOS shift register and 60 FETs used as switches for the speakers. Your power requirement seem low so I think we are talking about 50 cent FETs.
The input to the shift register chain is a single pulse for which the repetition can easily be adjusted with a pot. This solution is reliable and extra cheap. You can send the savings to me. |

A suggestion
Can't the sound directivity be generated using multispeaker arrays, instead of so many speakers...like a jet flying on a screen from one side to the other. Gajanan Phadte |
