Working with Acrylic

Does anyone have any tips for working with Acrylic? I need to cut several pieces that are 10mm thick. Specifically, how to polish the cut edges to a clean smooth finish.

Hi,

polishing is easy. Use wet sandpaper from coarse (180) to fine (1000) and after that some polishing paste. The last step can also be done with a drill and a polishing "mob?"

It's pretty easy! My acrylic supplier uses a gasol(propane) flame. Maybe you can use a hot air gun?

Before you do that the surface must pretty smooth but not extremely.

At work we use a LOT of acrylic. Mostly it is laser cut and flame polished.
You could try saw cutting (fine hacksaw), followed by sanding (up to 1000 grit wet paper) then polishing using either a propane flame, brass polish on a rag, or a grinder with a buffing wheel loaded with fine buffing compound.
