Unhappy Hot Shot Solderers????

ive got a real problem on my hands ive managed to get a chip from TI ,its one of the usb codecs dac and adc,s well the problem is that it is in the ssop or is it sop packeging which means that it is less than a centimeter long but has 14 pins on each side, thats a fraction of a milimeter space between the pins, im having a hell of a time soldering it. By the time i get to the second soldering ive got solder shortcurcuiting half of the pins, the rest are bent outta shape etc, well ive got a new chip and was wondering if anf one had an effective way of doing this....please help me out

I've attempted to solder components that were supposed to be surface-mounted, it didn't turn out well. I hate to say this, but I think you just need to get them in a larger package.

how to solder smd stuff

i prefer using desoldering litze (that stuff that sucks up solder like a paper towel sucks up water).

works great, no problems whatsoever. You do have to have steady hands so don't drink too much coffee before starting.

hi thanks all thanks for the link to the site, great ill try the flood n suck method sounds more like a smash and grab thing , my kinda thing hehe,
anyway that method assumes that u have pcbs i dont .guess ill just have to learn how to make em, ive tried using pcb makin programs, well schematic drawers but they were all the standard dil dimensions, with a millimeter per whole or whatever, are there or rather which programs dyou guys use to get those minute surface mount chip spacings and honestly are the drawing manufacturing of the pcbs so accurate that theyll be spot on, im especially conserned about the producing with the lights and chemicals, i bet it would f up

When making your own pcb, for ssop devices the pcb will have some mighty small traces, so be careful with the light/chemical method, I often have "spotted" traces when using this method.

Or buy one of these SSOP-28 to DIP adapter board.

http://www.epboard.com/eproducts/eza...0DIP%20Adapter

I'd pay $11 to not have to deal with trying to etch one myself.

There is a certain way to deal with this ...'mess'
one is to purchase if u whant a hot air solding gun ...wich should do the job pretty well. They're not too expensive depending on the capabilities that u search...thermal inertia ...adjustable nozzle temperature...an so on.Or dpending on the type of the soldering device that u are using 'manufacture' a heating coil with a small copper wire inside ...the diameter of the pin deppends on the 'welding' area that is to be managed...for me it worked pretty well.
