Any suggestions for alternative voltage regulators to the NS LM 338K?
The 338 is a pretty expensive chip when compared to something like the LM317. Is there no way of using say a BJT in parallel to a 317 to boost the current and voltage of the later? Any other suggestions for a regulator to be used in a home made PSU with say a 300VA 35-0-35 transformer? The PSU is to be used for testing power amps.

Exactly what you ask for is in the 317 data sheet.

Thanks, I have an old data sheet but will download the newer one. My data sheet suggest using parallel 317's with an opamp servo but would prefer to use one 317 with a single BJT.
Will rdownload and ead tonight when I get home. Regards
