A while ago there was a forum member (don't have his name at hand) who had a stock of used Hakko 929 rework stations for sale for $60. This is a really good price for this iron.

I bought one of these and it's great. Works perfectly and is a really nice unit.

You can do a search for the thread, and if you're interested in buying it, it's up for sale.

It comes with the base unit, 903 iron, key card, and a new wide chisel tip. Actually, the tip has been used by me three times but I bought it new, so it's essentially in mint condition.

As for the station, I used it a total of six times. I'm selling it because a week or so after I bought it, I purchased a brand new Hakko FP-102 and then later got a fairly good deal on a used Hakko 939. So the 929 is just sitting on my shelf.

The station doesn't come with the iron holder, however, but I don't think these are too hard to find.

If you're interested I'd be interested in getting $55 for it, which includes shipping.

Please research this rework station and contact me if you're interested.

Best,
KT

Thanks a lot KT. I'll get back to you by the end of the night. Much appreciated,

Doovieman

Default REBATE REBATE REBATE

I was just looking into many of the soldering irons on the net and it looks like there is a REBATE out for many of the Weller models. It's good till Feb 28th 2005 and here is a link to Weller’s site and a copy of the rebate slip.

http://www.cooperhandtools.com/fallpromo/redemption.pdf

Models included:

Weller WESD51 Soldering Station
Weller WSD81 Digital Silver Series Soldering Station
Weller WTCPT Temperature Controlled Soldering Station
Weller WLC100 40 Watt Soldering Station
Weller WRS3000S Self-contained Triple Function Rework Station

Hope this helps all in need of a nice soldering station

Thanks for the offer but I think I'll have to pass this time.

Default You've got a good local source

You're in Berkeley? Head over to Al Lasher Electronics on University Ave and have a look at the Haako 936. Check out the brass-wool tip cleaner too. Hakko tips aren't as easy to find as Weller, but Lasher & Frys will keep you covered.

I like the thinner iron of the Hakko. Been happy w/ mine for 4 years now.

Cheers from Marin, Andy

Thanks for the tip...I actually really dislike Lasher. Really over priced and poor selection. If you want an awesome place, check out Mike Quinn's electronics (near the Oakland airport)...bit of a hike for you, but if you need ANYTHING for very little $$$, head over. I got about 100 metal film resitors, 25 1000uF caps (50V), some connectors, wire, pots for about $10. It's just a huge warehouse with electronic parts everwhere. I will check out the Haako though. Thanks,

Doovieman

Check this out:

I have their CSI-Station2, and have been very happy with it--temperature controlled, digital display, etc. for $50. And they have a promotion for a free DVM with it. I got it, and it works great.

I have no relationship with CSI, YMMV.

Best,

George Ferguson

Hakko 936ESD is another exellent solder station. It's about $85 and is ESD safe.
