silver mica caps

Just a general question on these caps. Is there another name commonly used for silver mica? Can't find any in the Digikey cat but I see polyester and foil, metalized ployester etc. Thanks in advance

No, not that I know of, but I know that both Farnell ( http://www.farnell.com )and RS Components ( http://www.rs-components.com ) have them, if not on stock, they can deliver the next day.

Silver Mica Caps

The ones I found are made by Cornell Dubilier and distributed by Newark Electronics. If these are parts for the Pass a40, I just updated my list of parts and suppliers in your "Solid State DIY" thread below to include these. The changes are mostly to consolidate suppliers so I can place a minimum number of orders and receive what I need. Still haven't started building yet - I have a few other "projects" to wrap up first.

I don't know if digikey sells small quantities of them. If you logged in EBAY and search for 'mica cap.', you should be able to locate more than you need.

BTW what values are you looking for? I had quite a stock for them.

Search for "capacitor" then click on the lnk to "Mica and Teflon"

Mouser has a larger selection. They appear to be considerably cheaper, too.

Yeh, that would be me. I don't know how I dig this up. MY usual action will be looking thru the first few (probably 2-3) pages of the 'solid state' menu and see if there is any new or newly replied post that I might be interest to go thru. Sorry that I did not look at the date of the last post. But somehow, someone did the same thing as I had. Ha.....

Well for some it may. I have never yet found what I needed, found lots of other (very) unrelated threads and wasted lots of time.

My new target should be to learn how to generate the correct searches to enter into the fields.

You're not alone there Andrew. Sometimes I don't feel quite right checking the 'searched' box when starting a thread, but I can't reasonably do much better.

The best way I have found to search is to use Google with "site:diyaudio.com" at the end of my search string.

There is always pros and cons. The search function should mean good but sometimes it does bad. You seach for a certain key word and it returns you a thread that has 6000 reply posts (sorry bra, you are the man). How are you going to find you 'needle in that hawstack' ?
