Default Madell products - same as Hakko?

Is anyone familiar with Madell?

On first glance their products look very similar, if not identical, to Hakko.
The 936 soldering iron identical to Hakko's and even has the same model number.

List prices seem to be lower, however.
Does anyone have the scoop on this? Very curious. I wonder if this is a good alternative to the higher priced brands.

Thanks,
KT

They are probably being private labeled by Hakko for Maddell. You can bet Maddell doesn't manufacture anything and all their products say maddell on them...

If you really want an iron... buy a used Metcal Sp-200 off Ebay for $80. Once you own a Metcal (I have 2) you won't even consider anything else... the tips are spendy because the heater and temp sensor are built-in... but that is why they do what they do so well.
