Hi,
What measurements with DMM do you make to check whether a diode or a capacitor is undamaged or not ? Thanks in advance. MB |

For a capacitor, discharge it by putting a load across or just by shorting the leads (may be dangerous).
Then connect the meter, resistance will continue to increase until it is read as Infinite. You should also condition the capacitor if it is old. Do a search for capacitor conditioning. For a diode, some meters have a diode tester function. Or you can hook up a battery and an LED with the diode in series in the correct way. Then flip the diode, and the LED should go off. |
