Default how does one recognise .....

hi i would appreciate any help i can get....
i need to build a power supply and i hahe two transformers from an old stereo....
th part no. are
tam b 0149
and
tam b 0205

anyone know where i can get information...power rating....primary\secondary tunrs.....output voltages???????
ive really tried searching around.....any help will be appreciated.....
i was thinking of testing the voltages but..then again this is a machine with a laser inside it so i am worried about the large voltages....any one got any suggestions???

if its a cd player your somewhat safe just dont look into the laser
high voltages would be from the main's so avoid that. if you have a good volt meter you should be ok just take your time.

hi thanks for the reply....nah its an amp ...with a cd player inside....the ICs used are able to take in 40v of supply voltage.....
worse still there are two transfromers....the one directly from the mains looks like a step up transformer.......so its got me a bit confused.....
the general rule of common sence is that u dont touch the mains....but what about transformers connected to the mains....and another things....should the black multimeter probe be grounded to th mains ground or should i use something like a water tap or radiater to ground it....thanks again
