At a local surplus auction I purchased a palat of some sort of power supplies. I think they were for a co2 laser or something. I mainly got them for the rack mount cases, but there are a lot of capacitors inside and I was wondering if they have any potential for an audio application. They are Bosch capacitors, 40uF 2.5kV. Any ideas will be appreciated.

These could be used in power supplies for some of the more exotic transmitting triode / tetrodes
![]() I you can't use them yourself, i'm sure you'll get a good response at the "Trading Post". |

Do capacitors have any sort of "shelf life", one of the decals on the inside of the case says it was made in 1985. Also, if I were to sell/trade them, what do you think they are worth?

Capacitors do have a shelf life and yours look like there
almost 20 years old, I know most caps can be formed and most likely brought back to life, using a variac , for DIY they might be fine, However these are High voltage and need to be double careful also because there high voltage might be worth a fair amount of money. What would I sell them for, I'd need to see a picture and know a little more. Are they poly type, for motor start, Can with PCB's (also a big problem) Steve @ Apex Jr. |

Here is a pic of the caps. Approximate dimensions are 4" diameter and 6.5" height. I had to significantly lower the res to attach it, so if you would like better pics I can email them.

Can type, Here's my take...
If they do not say NO PCB's I personally couldn't sell them since I'm a bonifide business at least in Calif. As a person to the DIY market I don't know. If so I would get $5.00 to $7.50ea. If they do say No PCB's There worth $12.50 to $15.00............ Steve @ Apex Jr. |
