Thanks. I checked, but I did not seem to be able to buy these through the website. It just pointed me to some distributors, both of which were in Asia.
I have since found that Mouser stock the Fairchild parts -- not cheap though -- but I don't know how much I would be hit for shipping to the UK and how long it would take.

Their policy have changed recently....a while back you could order paid samples for reasonable money.

I was going to try Fairchild in the UK to see, but didn't want to bother them with such a small request.
The only IR version available now is the next-generation IRF540N and IRF9540N which are very poor in terms of SOA. They have very small die so current and power handling is much poorer compared to the original version.

Thanks Andrea.
I am actually after the Fairchild parts as the IRF9540 I got from Reichelt were Fairchild's alternative SFP9540 and I have found them to be very good indeed. The IRF540 I got from Reichelt were ST and not so good, so I'm trying to get the Fairchild match for my SFP9540s.
I have now found EBV Elektronik in the UK sell them for just EUR0.55 (plus tax), but I have to buy 50.

audiopro said:Newark Electronics has them in IR. They are owned by Farnell, so they maight be available in the UK.
Dan
Farnell in the UK list the original IR part... at almost £4.50
Newark list them at less than $1.50
The original IRF9540 is about £4.50 again at Farnell, but about $2.20 at Newark.
I think going for the Fairchild parts may be the best option.
